2018 Caledonian Games Schedule

FRIDAY, JULY 13

5:30-7:00 pm  — Caledonian Ceilidh Dinner in City Park. Featuring Scottish meat pies, sausage rolls offered by Scottish Outfitters and a variety of food vendors, Magill’s Lemonade and Lions Club strawberry shortcake.

6:30 pm — Presentation of the Chieftains of the Day

7:00 pm — Candle Lighting Ceremony at the Cairn in City Park. Blessing of clans, family and our festival.

8:00 pm — Free Movie at Athena Library a true Scottish movie with Swashbuckling Errol Flynn!

SATURDAY, JULY 14
8 am – 6 pm — Caledonian Vendors Open  Scottish souvenirs and good food

8:30-10 am — Piping Competition, Part I – City Park

8:45 am–  Children’s Bike and Trike Parade (Line up at 8:30 by tennis courts)

9:00 am — Caledonian Parade,  Main and Currant Streets

10 am – 4 pm — Clan Village open, City Park

10 am – 3 pm — Old Car Show, City Park

10:15 am — Caledonian Shindig, Central Stage, City Park Emcee: R. Lee Friese

11 am-1 pm — Toddlers Games, City Park

11:30 am — Registration for Scottish Athletic Competition, Big Green Tent, athletic field Celtic Harp by Janet Naylor, Creek Side Stage

Noon- 6 pm — Scottish Athletic Competition, Big Green Tent, All day Noon Piping Competition, Part II Skweez the Weezle, Celtic Band, Center Stage Storytelling by Mary Finney Creek Side Stage

12:15-2 pm — Kids Make Scottish Hats! City Park

12:30 pm — Celtic Harp by Janet Naylor, Creek Side Stage

1:00 pm — Athena Clan of Mid-Columbia School of Highland Dance, Center Stage

1:30 pm — Clan Crawford, Center Stage, Special guest: Scot and Cherokee Dancer! Horseshoe Tournament Registration

1:45 pm — Stories by Mary Finney, Creek Side Stage

2:00 pm — Skweez the Weezle, Toe-tappin’ music in the park Horseshoe Tournament, Singles, City Park

2:15 pm — Celtic Harp by Janet Naylor, Creek Side Stage

2:30 pm — PIPIN’and TELLIN’, Eric Albert, Shelter House

3:00 pm — Boise Highlanders, City Park & Vendor Area

3:30 pm — Mystie’s Glassblowers Demonstration. Center Stage VIP Reception, Shelter House in City Park

4:00 pm — Skweez the Weezle finishes out the afternoon of free music in the park….with Celtic music in their blood.

6:30 pm — Tattoo, High School Stadium (Free-will donation) Featuring: Boise Highlanders and Clan Mcleay Pipe Band, on the field with Blue Mountains in the background. Only in Athena!

SUNDAY, JULY 15

9:00 am — Vendors Open

9:30 am — Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan Community Church service. Bring chairs.

10:30 am — Coffee Hour, Shelter in the Park. Janet Naylor, Celtic harp

11:15 am – 2 pm — “The Way We Were” open mic with you sharing two cherished memorabilia (family pieces or from Athena, Caledonian, Umatilla County, Oregon or not)

11:30 am — Caledonian Picnic (Purchase a sack lunch from our vendors, bring a
blanket and eat in the park)

1:00 pm — Athena Clan of Mid-Columbia School of Highland Dance

1:30 pm — The Royal Athena Highland Guard, Park Stage Horseshoe Tournament Registration for Doubles

2:00 pm — Horseshoe Doubles Tournament

All schedules are tentative and subject to change.   Schedule changes may occur according to how many contestants there are and according to Caledonian time.
